I'm not sure if that ends up being obsession or just a coping mechanism. Maybe it ends up being both.Imaginarium of Dr Paulcrafthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18026572091302483313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960097927986224698.post-21346249071881843742010-10-26T12:57:53.547-04:002010-10-26T12:57:53.547-04:00I agree with you. I was very disappointed by this ...I agree with you. I was very disappointed by this movie especially since so many people told me I should read the book. Many friends suggested the movie also. I know that the book and movie are never the same, but after reading the book, this adaptation was ridiculous. I was also at a loss to find out what the monsters were. I think I thought they were vampires, but it was never really clear.
I was pleasantly surprised reading this book. What a wonderful read.
I think I liked the experiments that Neville did the best. He had some guts too, cause you can never tell when a monster is going to come out of the darkness.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960097927986224698.post-61169829142191488542010-10-15T11:30:14.363-04:002010-10-15T11:30:14.363-04:00I think you are 100% right in saying that this is ...I think you are 100% right in saying that this is a novel of obsession, and the repetition does really enhance this. I think the repetition of actions, of names, etc. in the book serves to make the reader obsessed in a way with how Neville deals with life post-apocalypse, too.Kari Cooperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11803265708419315032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960097927986224698.post-36798575764335085082010-09-10T19:34:39.263-04:002010-09-10T19:34:39.263-04:00You mention this being a novel of obsession. When...You mention this being a novel of obsession. When I read that, my mind also took it a step further. You have Neville with his highs of planning to discover the cause, trying to befriend the dog, and sound-proofing his house, and his lows when he breaks things and drinks too much. Doesn't this sound a lot like a bi-polar individual? At least, I thought that it might be something to think about. ;)

-LoriAlexa Gravehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16250741051279927895noreply@blogger.com
